The Kentucky Restaurant Association presents:
The 38th Annual Taste of Louisville Charity Event. The 2011 Taste of Louisville will be held on Monday October 17 at the Mellwood Arts Center 6p-9p. The Mellwood Arts Center will be the perfect artistic backdrop for the “Speakeasy” theme this year. For the very first time the artwork has been created by a local artist, Jeffrey (JD) Dotson (co-owner of Regalo Gifts). The Speakeasy theme is focusing on the Roaring 20’s, with flappers, gangsters and jazz music galore. Everyone attending/presenting will be asked to dress along with the theme. Be on the lookout for our “Speakeasy Taste Team” around town leading up to the event.
The KRA also decided this year to choose a new event planning company to help facilitate their fresh goals. They recently hired On A Lark Events, a small local environmentally friendly shop. www.onalarkevents.com Owner, Rebecca Simpson, the previous co-owner of Jenicca’s Café downtown in the heart of NULU, is taking the lead planning role.
The Taste committee and On A Lark Events have been very busy planning a stylish artsy Taste of Louisville for 2011 that will be the Cat’s Meow.
Tickets are available online: www.thetasteoflouisville.com The first 150 VIP tickets sold will receive a swag bag ($100 value), a reproduction of the speakeasy artwork and the comfy seats close to the stage. VIP: $75 REG: $55
The silent auction is going to have more art this year due to the venue being Mellwood Arts Center. A gallery area is being created to showcase all the donated pieces.
The Taste will have a LIVE band this year, The Jerry Tolson Band. They will be playing 20’s style Jazz from 6p-9p.
The Back Alley Beer Garden is another exciting addition this year; located in the courtyard of the venue. Local brewers will be sampling some of their delicious craft brew gearing up for the fall/winter season.
We are also pleased to announce our partnership with Secrets of Louisville Chefs this year. Secrets is in its 9th Season and is Louisville's premiere culinary entertainment show! "All Local All Positive" Tim Laird and Kevin Harned will be on scene at The Taste taping for a special edition of SECRETS of Louisville Chefs.
